For a patient like me who is in extreme pain, Bem-bem’s jolly attitudes, positive behaviours, and constant communication (explaining all the why's and all the what's) made my stay less stressful.
It is with immense pleasure and without reservation that I nominate Ubiemherose Booc for the DAISY Award. Umbiemherose, also known as Bem-bem – ER Department - Royal Hobart Hospital, has demonstrated exceptional nursing skills and unwavering care and empathy to her patients.
I have been in and out of the emergency room last year at the Royal Hobart Hospital. I have witnessed firsthand Bem-bem’s ability to remain calm and efficient while under pressure. I have observed that the ER can be a high-pressure environment, requiring swift decision-making and fast, precise action. During my various visits to the ER at Royal Hobart Hospital, Bem-bem demonstrated her exceptional expertise by managing multiple patients simultaneously, accurately prioritising their needs, and, most importantly, showing genuine care—not only for her patients but also for the companions supporting them.
During a particularly painful ER visit stemming from endometriosis and bilateral ovarian cysts, Bem-bem's exceptional care stood out. After triage, while awaiting an ultrasound in the River area, she proactively checked my blood pressure and medical records. Despite a heavy workload, she personally expedited my ultrasound appointment, securing a time slot at 9:45 am (it was already past 8 am). Simultaneously, she attended to another patient, ensuring their stability before thoughtfully offering drinks to both patients and their companions, including myself and my partner. I observed her extending this considerate attention to other patients and even colleagues, consistently inquiring about their well-being and offering assistance. Her ability to manage multiple patients while providing personalized, empathetic care, including cracking jokes to alleviate anxiety, was truly remarkable.
For a patient like me who is in extreme pain, Bem-bem’s jolly attitudes, positive behaviours, and constant communication (explaining all the why's and all the what's) made my stay less stressful. We can truly say that Royal Hobart was right to hire Ubiemherose Booc as a Nurse for the ER department.
Her dedication to ensure that all the patients under her care are well-informed and genuinely cared for exemplifies exceptional nursing. As I have mentioned, I have been in and out of the ER a couple of times, and I have seen Ubiemherose Booc how professional she is. For me, as a patient, she is not just a nurse doing her job. She is a Nurse who truly cares.
