It's hard to find the words to thank you all for the kindness you showed to our family while undergoing cancer treatment. It still feels so strange to say "cancer", but from the moment of diagnosis, you took us in your arms and held us through the long weeks. From diagnosis and the very scary discussions about treatment to walking us day to day through the harsh effects of treatment, you were each a major part of getting us to the day that we're working on recovery. You greeted us every day with a smile, words of encouragement, advice on how to manage the difficult moments, and you were there to celebrate the great moments. Karen and Lori were there guiding us, warning us about what comes next and reminding us to eat, to swallow, and to use that Sween. The radiation technicians smiled at my husband's "not bad yet" response to their daily "how are you?". The nurses were there to greet us with a smile, answer our questions and applaud our success. And Dr. Chen's expertise and smiles made our weekly meetings something we looked forward to. We were so fortunate to meet a new friend and share the experience with him. We were grateful to Judy for always putting us in a room with him, where we could laugh and share what worked, what didn't, and what frustrated us. Charlie came in every day with a smile and checked up on us throughout our day, and we hope he knows that the warm blanket was far more than comfort, but a hug, and that first symbol that we'd get through the treatment. Lisa, both Lindas, Karen, and all the nurses showed us compassion while doing an amazing job treating my husband, lifting us up when we needed lifting, and monitoring the effects of treatment. Dr. Osborne and her PAs were there to reassure us and make the adjustments needed to keep moving forward. So thank you to each one of you. We started this process off saying that we thought we were in the right place for the best treatment. We now know without a doubt that we are in the right hands. You will all hold a special place in our hearts.
