A grateful family recently recognized Urmila Rijal, BSN, RN of Needham 3, for her extraordinary kindness and dedication. The patient’s father was admitted to Mount Auburn Hospital with very complicated heart and blood issues, and throughout his stay, Urmila became a steady source of comfort and reassurance. She entered the room with a smile every time and consistently went above and beyond to help him feel safe, supported, and even able to laugh during uncertain moments. Whenever the family had questions, Urmila was there with patience and clarity. They shared that she even stopped by on days she was not working on the floor, simply to check in and say hello. One story they highlighted was how the patient affectionately calls his wife “DD,” short for Dr. D, because of her constant care. After hearing this, Urmila warmly began calling the patient’s wife “DD” as well, a small but meaningful gesture that touched the entire family.
