She was so understanding, informative, and confidence-inspiring.
I was induced at 37 weeks, it was my first baby, and I had an epidural, all of which likely contributed to my baby and me having trouble breastfeeding during our first days together. Vahnessa Misa met with me and my husband. She was so understanding, informative, and confidence-inspiring. During the afternoon, she spent an hour with us, walking us through how to get a proper latch and walking me through different tips and positions. She never got frustrated or suggested giving up throughout that hour, and we eventually found a solution using nipple shields that was comfortable for me and allowed me to give my baby a 20-minute feeding. Later, during the evening she came to help us again with our next formula, she introduced us to the SNS system that allowed the baby to practice suckling on my breast while making sure she got the nutrition she needed. Throughout all of this, she was quick to suggest things my husband could do to help, as well as walking him through the clean-up and assembly of the different tools and the pump. Instead of feeling defeated by formula supplementation, she helped us stay positive and optimistic about our potential success in breastfeeding.
