Val was preparing to discharge and elderly female patient. The patient stated she was tired of her treatments physically and emotionally and was ready for Hospice Care, but felt her husband was ready to accept her decision. Val assisted in making her wishes known to her husband. Val personally took the patient to meet her husband at their car (on a very cold day) and offered information and support during the discussion. Val also spoke with their daughter who was trying to facilitate care decisions from out of state and needed clarity. Val is an outstanding member of our staff and exhibited our mission and service behaviors with this family.
