Val cared for my late husband on 10 West during the COVID 19 lockdown and while he was undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma, kidney failure, and liver failure. As they spent the days together they shared stories of life and their journeys. Val is an extraordinary person and nurse. It would be easy to "tune out" a patient whom you have to sit with hour after hour as they receive treatment. Val did not do this. When my husband came home we knew his days were numbered and he spoke often of her and how she made his time on 10W go by without a hitch. My sweet husband was loved by so many and he felt loved and valued by Val even in his last days. Before he left me he hoped that I only and always have blue skies... We wish for Val blue skies and nothing but sunshine! Just as she was sunshine to him during dark days.
