I came into this unit in extreme pain and distress. The team was nice and helpful. But when Valeria took over my care as an RN, I have never felt safer in someone's care. She took the time to listen to me about things that were hurting. Strong feelings or things I felt were off, she also listened to me as a person as I would tell her other procedures I had to have while she was doing her job. She helped with ice packs and getting to the bathroom. She made sure my dignity was always intact. I know these are part of her job, but she did it with the care that went above and beyond when my doctor came in for an update on what was going on. He ended it with you have a collapsed lung with fluid he could drain it. But walking and breathing treatment should be fine and left. I don't know about you, but when you hear collapsed lung, you get scared. She saw how worried I was and took time to look up what was going on, which was way above and beyond for me. You have a star on your hands. And I know she’s just going to shine stronger as time goes on.
