Val will do anything for patients. She keeps me updated and always has a smile and a kind word. She is an angel, nursing is definitely her calling.
I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. I had a major setback after my DMX in November. My surgeon was unable to close my wound on my right breast which was about 4x6 inches. I had to have wound changes 3 times a week. Val put me in touch with Palliative care so I could get the needed pain meds and support for my painful wound changes. When I finally was able to see my radiologist she came in on her day off to remove my bandage for the dr and then apply another clean bandage. This was at St. Joe’s Hospital! My wound was not healing fast enough so I am now doing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. My ears wound not clear during Hyperbaric - so I needed ear plugs. Val got me in the next day with an ENT dr to place the ear plugs so I could continue with Hyperbaric. The very next day! Val will do anything for patients. She keeps me updated and always has a smile and a kind word. She is an angel, nursing is definitely her calling. I am hoping to start radiation soon. My husband always remarks after my appointments what a pleasure it is to see Val. Val’s nursing skills are excellent, also. I recently found out I had a staph infection, Val immediately contacted the Physician’s Assistant and had him call in my prescription immediately. She is always one step ahead of everyone. Kaiser is lucky to have such a competent, intelligent, and kind nurse. I am so glad she is my nurse navigator through my cancer journey. I would be lost without her.
