I was able to witness this nurse with a special-needs patient. She was able to connect with this patient extraordinarily to the point where the young man wanted to stay with her and not go off with his parents. We all chuckled with the parents; they stated the child is usually uncomfortable around non-relatives, but Nurse Valerie really connected with him and made him feel comfortable. This is just one example she is caring and shows a sincere interest in all our members, making all of our young patients smile. Her favorite question to ask is, "What’s your favorite color?" to our young members, this always brings them out of their shells and makes the parent and child feel at ease.
