I arrived at Rhoads 7 and was immediately greeted by my smiling nurse, Vallena. She has taken care of me in so many ways. She has laughed at my jokes, listened to my complaints, and tolerated both my bad and sad moods. Throughout my ordeal, she has been concerned and compassionate every day and reassuring at every turn.
It is evident how medically knowledgeable and well-trained she is and as a physician oncologist turned "patient" I can appreciate these qualities. When I am discharged I will miss her attentiveness to my well-being, just popping in my door "just checking" on me. She is extraordinary!
