Vandana Sharma is the Patient Care Coordinator for the Neuroscience Unit (7A) at the Cedar Crest site. Along with her management duties of scheduling the nurses for their shifts, completing payroll, etc., she is a wonderful, dedicated, compassionate nurse. There were times when nurses have called out ill for day shift (7:00 - 1930) and the charge nurse on duty would call her early in the morning asking her to come in to cover a shift. She always has and comes in with a smile on her face.

Her bedside manner with patients is excellent. If a patient has a request, she fulfills it in a timely manner. As soon as a call bell rings, Vandana is there. She is a great leader setting wonderful examples and goals for student nurses and colleagues. Her leadership is superb, as she cares for all her patients, as well as her colleagues. She has helped guide new nurses into their roles. Her advice is always beneficial.

On a personal note, my mom passed away in December. Vandana was an excellent go-to for emotional support. Her guidance, reassurance that I can make it through, and pep talks are always so helpful and lift me up. Vandana cares for people of all ages, gender, sex, race, ethnicity, and sexuality, etc. She treats all patients and staff equally and with a high level of professionalism.

In addition to all the above, Vandana is furthering her education so she can help Lehigh Valley Health Network flourish. She values and goes beyond the core values of the network. Vandana is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
