She always has a smile and it’s not an apathetic smile. It’s a real smile. The kind where when someone smiles, they smile from the eyes which are the windows to their soul.
Vee’s bedside manner is the best I have experienced in a long time. I have been in several hospitals for many reasons and have had the pleasure of care by many kinds of nurses. I have concluded that there are two kinds of nurses. One being the kind who are just doing their job and the other being their job. Vee is her job. I can tell she enjoys being a nurse and she truly cares about her patients. She always has a smile and it’s not an apathetic smile. It’s a real smile. The kind where when someone smiles, they smile from the eyes which are the windows to their soul. I wish there could be more nurses like Vee. I’m not slighting all other nurses here, but a patient can tell when someone is just here bodily. Vee shows compassion and wants her patients to leave here healthy. Ironically, if she doesn’t have any patience, she doesn’t have a job, but somehow her heart would be happy because she wants to see people happy.
I am going through a second round of cancer and had a neck dissection which is quite painful. Vee has made me comfortable and checked in on me outside of handing out medication. She has taken the time to talk with me and not run out of the room to meet other obligations. If she had other obligations, I wouldn’t know because her natural disposition to care for her patients doesn’t present strain on her manner of care. My family and I appreciate her professionalism and her never-ending smile.
