I've seen many nurses care for patients, but none to the level of Vanessa. She exemplifies the caring profession in a truly amazing, unique way. She combines caring for each individual patient to their needs and customizes it to perfect their hospital experience. I've seen her sit at the bedside and hold hands with those who are scared. In the middle of the night comforting patients who are alone and scared. But she is not only caring, but she also plans their care for issues that could arise. She applies medical knowledge to help the doctors ensure excellent care.
Critically thinking each avenue, but still being truly loving, compassionate, and caring. Going above for her patients, as well as staff. Ensuring new nurses feel at home and safe to talk to her with concerns, teaching them ways to troubleshoot issues. Vanessa embodies the very essence of the Nightingale Oath and more. I have witnessed so many cry as they hug her with gratitude.
