Nomination 1
Vanessa is a wonderful nurse who is caring and considerate. Her passion for her job clearly shows. She has helped me to understand at all times what is going on with my daughter and her treatment. She explains to me in detail. She also taught me different things about my daughter’s care and what to expect. She was so patient with me and listened to me cry, on several occasions. Vanessa has made our time at Dell bearable. She helped me to stay focused on the positive. Without her I don’t know if we could have handled everything. We were truly blessed and so is this hospital to have her as a staff member. Thank you so very much.
Nomination 2
My grandson was less than one week old when he was transferred to DCMC. He was born 4 weeks early and was having trouble breathing. With no diagnosis for our sick baby and a transfer, our family was terrified. And then we met Vanessa. Right away she did all she could to ease our fears and make us feel comfortable in the environment. She explained all his equipment, procedures and others participating in his care. Vanessa began teaching us right away, preparing us for discharge. She empowered my daughter and son-in-law by making sure every question was answered and skills perfected. She advocated for my daughter to have a place to sleep when the baby was newly admitted and having a procedure done. It is evident that she loves her job because she takes good care of the patient and the family.
