Vanessa slipped in and put her cell phone by her nurse desk and it was playing the song, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. This touched me so very much. It brought tears to my eyes.
From the time I entered the hospital, each and every one of the healthcare workers was very kind. The person who checked my temperature, the woman who I saw at registration, the first nurse I met in the pre-op for surgery. I felt comforted by the doctor, the anesthesiologist, his assistant, the surgical tech. I felt comforted and informed thanks to all of them. I especially want to thank the nurse who spent the most time with me getting me ready for surgery and after taking care of me and Recovery. Her name is Vanessa she is wonderful.
Vanessa explained everything to me about what she was doing and why. This gave me such a calming effect. I asked questions and she listened to me, really listened. She acted as if I was the only patient, but I knew she was busy. Yet she never made me feel rushed. She is knowledgeable, efficient, with a great bedside manner. After the surgery was over and I woke up she was there, smiling and watching over me. She asked about my husband I told her that he would take care of me. I told her that we have been married for 52 years. I made the statement that I got it right the first time. She smiled and agreed. As she was administering care to me, she asked how we met. I told her we met at a dance and that he asked me to dance and we've been together since then. I told her we still dance, even in the kitchen. I told her one song we like now is "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. Then my husband was told he could come back to recovery and be with me. He came in, she left and closed the curtain. Then as he and I were seeing each other after surgery, she slipped in and put her cell phone by her nurse desk and it was playing the song, "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. This touched me so very much. It brought tears to my eyes. Her kindness and thoughtfulness went far beyond what was expected.
When I was waiting to go to surgery, the TV was on and someone was talking about kindness. The person said, kindness is not just what you do, but also kindness is who you are. Vanessa is kindness. She made a serious time so much easier to handle for me. I will never forget her thank you so much my Nessa, God bless you.
