Vanessa was so attentive to a newborn infant who started showing signs of tachypnea. She alerted the pediatrics team. The team examined the infant and the tachypnea had resolved. Vanessa continued to pay attention to the infant and noted that she had perioral cyanosis and immediately brought the infant to the nursery where she had a low pulse ox and was started on oxygen. The infant rapidly worsened and ended up being transferred and intubated. Vanessa was calm and composed but assertive and confident. She kept the family informed. Her excellent skills saved this infant's life. She is a wonderful nurse and our team and this family were so fortunate to have her today.
