Vanessa Prendiz, RN, was nominated for the DAISY Award by her patient Mr. M, for her excellent care while he was in the DOU Unit at Huntington Hospital recovering from surgery.
Vanessa Prendiz was my nurse following major surgery. A complication was later discovered that required a procedure that made me very anxious. Vanessa was constantly reassuring me (in a very respectful way) and made every effort to get me in for the procedure as soon as possible. She made sure I had the required medications just prior to the procedure. She also made sure she was the one to accompany me to the medical procedure reassuring me all the way. This is just one example of the extraordinary care I received. Vanessa’s patience, compassion and upbeat nature really helped me get through a difficult time.
