When I brought my husband to the ED in the early hours of the morning, I was totally unprepared for the visit. Vanessa was immediately attentive not only to the needs of my husband, but also, unprompted, to my own. She was quick to offer me a warm change of clothes, socks, and even made sure I had a comfortable place to sleep in the room. Later, I awoke to her bringing in warm blankets to tuck me in as I had fallen asleep. These spontaneous acts of caring on her part made all the difference to us. Vanessa's warm interactions with us and genuine caring made such a big difference to me for this visit and demonstrated her compassion clearly. Her dedication to upholding not only the patient's dignity but also my own was outstanding. Because of these reasons, I would like to nominate her for the DAISY Award.
