Vanessa made my stay at the hospital very pleasant and peaceful.
On behalf of my family, I’d like to thank Memorial Hospital’s doctors, nurses, and staff for my mother’s care during her battle with Covid. My mom was admitted to Memorial to an unknown fate. It was such a frightening time, spent at a complete distance from my mom, as the virus ran its cruel course.
After over a year of enduring this crisis, I know you and your staff are all too familiar with these painful circumstances – and I hope that you are thanked every day for your sacrifices and care. Over three months after my mom’s initial hospitalization and continual recovery, there is one nurse in particular that still stands out in my mind as playing a huge role in saving my mom’s life.
Vanessa Todd on 4 South was incredibly compassionate, intuitive, and patient. She took the time and truly cared to nurture my momma out of her illness’s grips and back to health. Vanessa was nothing short of an angel. Extremely professional and competent, she has such a bright spirit that shines through in all that she does and certainly found her calling in nursing. I know Vanessa fought for my mom to live. And though my mother doesn’t remember her time spent in this unit (nor any of the 6 weeks she was hospitalized), my family and I sure do – and I can’t tell you how comforting it was to know that Vanessa was taking care of my mom. She communicated exceptionally well with my family on my mom’s condition, and she made us feel as close to my mother as the necessary precautions and technology would allow.
Memorial is so very lucky to have a nurse like Vanessa, and I hope we all can strive to be more like her – going that extra mile with unconditional love for what we do and those we care for. Please extend my family’s sincere gratitude to Vanessa for a job beautifully done and a passion well found. She’s a true inspiration. Please give our love and big appreciation to her!

First of all, I would like to say thank you for assigning Vanessa Todd as my nurse. From the very first time she came into my room, she continuously asked questions about how I was feeling, did I need anything, how was my pain, etc. Vanessa demonstrated an “over and above” work ethic and attitude. She was always happy and continually smiling. Not only did she help me but she continuously questioned my wife about her needs. Not only did Vanessa do this during her shift but she came by the room after her shift was over to see if we needed her to bring us anything when she came back the next day.
Personally, I have never had a nurse that worked so hard at making sure I was comfortable and making sure we had what we needed. Vanessa made my stay at the hospital very pleasant and peaceful. Vanessa always did extra things for us like hot coffee, water, cokes, blankets, etc. It was always just a part of her job. Again I want to say a very special “thank you” to Vanessa. Believe me, she is a very special nurse and person, inside and out. My wife and I love Vanessa very much!
