Sometimes the most difficult care we provide for patients is unseen by others. I wanted to recognize Vanessa for the care she provided to a19-weekgestation baby girl who lived for several hours after birth. Vanessa cared for this precious baby as if she were her own. While the mother was in surgery, she stayed with the baby and held her until the father was available. She spent time creating a memory box of items for the mother to bring home, that I'm sure she will cherish for years to come. Vanessa went above and beyond what was expected of her as a nurse, and truly exemplifies what compassionate care looks like in action.
