Varinder...immediately sprang into action to ensure the patient received proper care and created pathways to ensure the patient was taken care of.
We had quite the eventful clinic day with a Spanish-speaking patient in clinic who expressed thoughts of hurting herself and turned out to be very depressed and suicidal. Thankfully, after I spoke with her and her sister, I let Varinder know, who immediately sprang into action to ensure the patient received proper care and created pathways to ensure the patient was taken care of.
Varinder started documentation in the chart, called the crisis team, who came, assessed the patient, and put the patient on hold. Tried calling ER admission, but after a few minutes could not reach them, so reached out to the BERT team, who came to take the patient for admission. We worked together between clinic patients to provide handoff and documentation, communicate with these services, and keep the patient safe to make sure the patient received care. The patient and her sister wanted care.
Varinder was a very valuable asset and strong advocate and leader in this process, working tirelessly through lunch. I'm very thankful for her help.
