Venice Dee, RN

Venice has worked as a nurse at Sheppard Pratt for the past 3 years. Two patients nominated Venice, stating that no matter how busy Venice is, she always makes time for patients to feel heard and seen. One patient stated, "Even though she is so busy in her day, running charge and managing a full patient load, she makes me feel like I am her only patient when we sit down to talk". Venice is known to laugh and joke with her patients, but knows how to have a difficult conversation with a patient who is struggling so that they feel supported. Another patient reported feeling scared and nervous their first night on the unit and stated that Venice helped them feel comfortable by sitting down and explaining their medications. Both patients reported Venice's patient care is unmatched by other nurses. This type of care and compassion is exactly what patients in a psychiatric inpatient setting need.
