Vera Willis is 8 North's case manager extraordinaire. Recognized for her exceptional advocacy, she always has an eye on the patient's welfare and serves as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers. She actively rounds with patients and their families, orienting them to rehab processes, and problem solving areas of concern. She often serves as the unit "tour guide," warmly welcoming families of prospective patients to meet with her and learn about our services before admission.
Vera is responsible and reliable. She can be counted on to follow through with her promises to patients and staff, from answering clinical questions to researching policies. Vera excels at planning, and can distinguish between productive and nonproductive tasks to get the job done.
Vera eagerly attends professional development classes and recently became a Certified Rehabilitation Nurse! She coordinates and provides interdisciplinary team training. She is a superb resource to the staff, generously offering one-on-one mentoring as needed. She is always affirming of what one does know, as opposed to focusing on one's knowledge gaps.
Vera works in harmony with others, adding to a positive environment. She stays calm and is sincere. She is respectful of differing values and perspectives, which encourages both patients and staff to feel they can trust her with their concerns.
Vera shows pride in her job, is loyal and honest, perseveres and achieves her goals. It is clear that she is dedicated to serving 8 North patients and families. We are extremely grateful for her commitment to our patients, families and staff. Thank you Vera!
