Verna Schmidlin, LPN Cottages at Brushy Creek, received the DAISY award for the way she makes a significant difference in the lives of the elders in her care. She turns tasks such as giving medications into personal, meaningful visits--taking time with each elder to talk and above all, listen. Attuned to their spiritual needs, she often reads devotions to elders who have trouble seeing and prays with those who ask her to.
