Verncia “Vern” Hopkins was nominated by the family of a patient who called her stay at the hospital “amazing” because of Vern’s caring nature. “Vern took such great care of mom’s every need, as well as ours,” the family wrote. “She answered all of our many questions without hesitation. Vern spent extra time to educate us all on our mother’s skincare and new medical needs so we had the confidence to take her home safely. This was a blessing to us and it helped us better care for our mother.” While the family called all of the hospital’s staff “helpful and supportive,” they said that Vern and her nursing assistant made an especially great team. “We can’t thank them enough for the care our mother received.”
