Family member writes, “My dad has had plenty of nurses that were great to him, but Vernon Elliot stood out from the rest as the most compassionate and who was very good with educating us about what was happening to dad. Vernon made sure we understood the total care needs of what my dad was facing so that we could continue to care for him later. He always took time to sit with us to explain what the numbers meant on the monitors, the results of each test taken, blood pressure readings, what dialysis was, and everything else overwhelming to a lay person. Communicated so well with our family that we felt we really could understand what was happening to dad. He was very helpful that every time we left and came back, Vernon would take time to work with us and give us a full report of everything that had happened. He is such a very special person and a nurse. There just needs to be more people in this world like Vernon. We felt he knew as much as the doctors.” Clinical Manager shared that Vernon gives excellent care and has an obvious vested interest in our unit. He is a role model to other nurses. Vernon served his country in Vietnam where he followed his heart in becoming a healthcare provider sharing his many years of experience with his peers and patients.
