My mom was recently diagnosed with advanced cancer. It hit me so hard and devastation is an understatement. When I went to visit my mom today, I was greeted by a warm and bubbly nurse. My mom had mentioned there was an amazing nurse who she just loved. And once I met her, I knew why. We shared so many moments in the hours I was visiting. But when she had to leave her shift, she spoke from the heart. She encouraged my mom in such a tender and loving way. We wept, we embraced. It was at that moment that I felt her heart. You don't do this work without heart. To Nurse Veronica, thank you for caring for my mom, the love of my life, with heart and holding me in one of the hardest moments of my life. That kindness you showed will carry me through this difficult time.
