October 2025 Honoree
Veronica Lopez Leyva, BSN, RN
Veronica saved my life. She was my nurse after the birth of my daughter. There were no available rooms on Mother/Baby, so I was staying an extra night in L&D. She came in to check on us, saw I was a little pale, and asked me how I was feeling. She immediately recognized that I was hemorrhaging and sprang into action. Within seconds, the team was there to help me. She was calm through the entire ordeal, explained what was happening, and made sure that my husband, my baby, and I were all taken care of, all while working with the team to stop the bleeding. I’m convinced that without her as my nurse, I would not be here today. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the names of the other nurses and doctors who helped, but I’m thankful for them as well. They knew what they were doing, and there was no doubt that they were well-trained for this type of emergency.
Thank you, Veronica, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
