November 2022 Honoree
Vici Cronin, RN
Vici went above and beyond to care for a patient who could not read or write. This gentleman arrived to the CPR to have a procedure that had required him to have held one of his medications, however, because he was unable to read his med bottles, the information he received from the office was worthless. Realizing this patient's conundrum, Vici, was able to confirm the patient's med using size, shape, and color. To help the patient in the future, she took the time to print color pictures of his medication. The patient was able to, then, recognize and know his medications, and avoid mistakes in the future. Needless to say, this gentleman was very embarrassed by his disability. He apologized profusely for not understanding the instructions and for making the mistake. Vici took it all in stride, never once blaming him or allowing him to feel bad. She respectfully walked him through the future plans, so he was confident about his return visit.
Vici is an amazing, humble nurse. She would be embarrassed to know I have nominated her. Her goal is to put the patient first, every time, with kindness and compassion.
