Vicki volunteered to consult with the surgeon's nurse and arranged for me to have x-rays at the Webster facility and a photo of the incision.
I underwent a total knee replacement including kneecap at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Due to some complications and a need for continued care and physical therapy I was discharged to Sanford Webster Medical Center swing bed. I am very familiar with most of the staff in the facility due to my long-term physical therapy needs, weekly trips to the facility for therapy, and having been in swing bed there in 2019 following a total reverse shoulder surgery. Vicki was one of my nurses in 2019 but went "above and beyond" her duties during my recent stay. Vicki has continually demonstrated a cheery, helpful, compassionate, and caring demeanor whenever she entered my patient room or when I saw her in the hall or at the nurses' station.

I was scheduled for a post-surgery re-check in Sioux Falls two weeks following surgery. Due to pain issues and inability to make that trip and appointment without increased stress and pain, an approximately 6-hour trip, noting my concern regarding this appointment, Vicki volunteered to consult with the surgeon's nurse and arranged for me to have x-rays at the Webster facility and a photo of the incision (which she took) both electronically transmitted to the surgeon. I had made the decision if this wouldn't be acceptable to the surgeon that I would not keep the appointment. I simply could not tolerate the trip and time elements. Routinely, the orthopedic departments have wanted patients to be evaluated for progress in person. I was relieved and grateful to remain for care and evaluation at Sanford Webster. I have seen Vicki since my discharge, and she continues to be interested in my progress. I believe Vicki is a DAISY Nurse and should be acknowledged for her service to her patients.
