I am writing today not only to nominate Vicki in 4SW for the DAISY Award but to compliment all the staff in 4SW that made my stay in Little Company of Mary Hospital less overwhelming at a stressful time. While the first few days were a little intense, it seemed getting through the nights would prove much more difficult for me. Vicki has a calming manner about her. As I would start to get frustrated with the tubes, lines, lack of mobility and sleep, she would reassure me that my treatment, was in fact on course and maybe a little ahead of that. The attention to detail she displays doesn't get in the way of her interaction with you in a caring manner. I felt at ease that I was in the best of care.
This should in no way diminish the cumulative effort of the 4SW team. Everyone, nurses and nursing assistants did their best to see that everything I needed was handled in the best possible manner no matter what time of day. I'm glad I came back to the hospital I was born in. The building may be gone, but the level of care isn't.
