Vickie went above and beyond as a charge nurse on a crazy night taking patients in order to relieve stress of nurses. It was a very heavy oncology group with two oncology patients not doing well. Vickie answered each call with patience and put in orders for us as we took care of very sick patients. She ran around all night barely eating or drinking and then bought pizza for the floor to keep our spirits up. She advocated for my patient when we couldn't get a hold of the doctors as a code blue and two rapids were called (not on our floor) within ten minutes of each other. She was everywhere at once and did it all with a smile, always asking to do more even though she was on the phone or in the room with a patient or helping another nurse. She is the epitome of what a charge nurse should be.
