August 2019 Honoree
victor mason, RN
Victor was super kind and down to Earth with me. He had to remove my chest tubes and pacer wires, and naturally, I was scared to death, but he had an amazing way of explaining the whole process to me that calmed my nerves and fears. He was sure to take his time and was so gentle that it didn't hurt very much. As a recovering addict that last year in my addiction I gave myself endocarditis, which resulted in me having to replace my valve. I'm used to being treated like trash but Victor was always extra nice to me. He treated me like a human. He gave me several words of encouragement instead of criticism, which made me feel hopeful instead of hopeless. The world needs more people like him and this hospital is lucky to have a nurse like him on their staff. When people like me encounter people like him at a time when they are sick, kindness and patience can heal your heart valve faster and also help heal your soul!
Thank you, Victor, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
