Victor held her kid and played with him…and had the labor ward bring down a pacifier for the baby and when the baby fell asleep.
Victor was recognized after his nominator saw a Facebook post mentioning his outstanding care in the ER. The post noted how a nurse was holding a child while the boy’s mother was getting an IV. The patient wrote that the unidentified RN “held her kid and played with him…and had the labor ward bring down a pacifier for the baby and when the baby fell asleep, he went out and got a blanket.” The man went on to mention that the nurse also offered him a blanket and “kept asking if I needed anything every few minutes.” The Director of Critical Care and Emergency Services saw the post and immediately recognized the caregiver as Victor McKenzie, RN. His director says “Victor has been with our organization for a long time. I can tell you, this is just how Victor responds to our patients day in and day out. For him, it was nothing special but we all know how simple acts of kindness can make a difference, especially in a hospital setting. He definitely deserves this award.”
