We love Victor, and he's such a blessing for our organization.
Victor started in Saddleback as a PCT in ER, finished nursing school, and started his nursing journey on 3 East. I mentored Victor in his first year after he finished his orientation. He's humble, polite, passionate, professional, and is an expert at dealing with difficult patients.

It doesn't matter how hard and complicated the situation was, Victor always kept his smile on his face, communicated well with all available resources, updated charge nurse and asked for advice, I have never seen Victor upset with anyone, he always tried his best to help assure patients and family when they're in doubt, and kept them informed in a good time manner, which eased the anxieties on both ends.

Many patients wrote applause cards for him and requested Victor as their nurse for the next day. When Victor has a little time, he checks in with his coworkers and asks if he can help them with anything. One time, I miscounted the number of his patients and did not realize he already had four tele patients. ER was on diversion and could not wait; they called the report immediately, but no one was able to take this new patient. Victor reassured me that it was not a problem that he could take the report, get the patient settled, and keep the patient until I had a nurse available to take over.

The new patient arrived without any delay. After that, he also helped another nurse receive another ER COVID-19 patient. Victor got dressed and checked the room's readiness before moving the patient to the isolation room. Another time, Victor had to coordinate the discharge of a homeless patient. It was super difficult. Victor had been very thoroughly preparing this discharge from early in the morning; he dug into details and made sure everything was covered.

He even went down to the ER's shower room to find the patient’s other belongings on top of what we had in the room; the patient was so excited to see all his stuff with him. It was a trip full of patients’ personal belongings, medications, food... Everyone cheered and applauded Victor when he returned. What a great accomplishment!

Victor's laugh is magical and contagious. He has brought so much peace and happiness to our unit. We love Victor, and he's such a blessing for our organization.

Victor, thank you for providing simply better care!
