September 2021 Honoree
Victoria C Schlamb, BSN, RN, CEN
Victoria had a critical patient in the ED with a complaint of shortness of breath. The patient’s condition deteriorated and she was placed on a morphine drip with supportive care. Efforts to contact friends or family were unsuccessful; Victoria did not want the patient to die alone. She provided amazing end-of-life care. Victoria placed the monitor on the soft-lit Comfort screen, dimmed the room lights, and played soft, calming music on her cell phone. The care provided to this patient embodied what a nurse truly does. Seeing this unfold through to the end, truly touched my soul.
Thank you, Victoria, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
