Vicky Canellas is a Silent Warrior. Vicky, an expert Critical Nurse, and an expert Nurse Manager endured the greatest impact due to the COVID Pandemic. Vicky, leading an outstanding group of critical care professionals, standing tall but with a quiet approach, makes every impossible event possible. The Critical Care Unit changed overnight. Vicky, organizing, adjusting, educating, re-adjusting, staffing, adjusting again, opened remote critical care units, moved critical care units, changed nursing processes, adjusted to changed medical practice, educated staff of every practice change every day, and being present every day ensured that patients suffering with critical healthcare needs were properly cared for and managed with the best and most current evidence-based practice. During the most painful surge of COVID patients, the entire Critical Team made a video in honor of their leader, Vicky Canellas. The team all recognized that the power of the leader made a positive difference to all.
