February 2024 Honoree
Victoria Decarlo, RN
I have been a patient here since last Wednesday, and I have had nurse Tori as my night nurse for days. I have had a rough time while here. I threw up and have not been able to breathe right for at least 5 of those days. I didn’t eat or sleep for 6 nights and I grew weaker and weaker. Tori showed great concern for my situation, and she would take time with me and stay with me. Every time I called her, she would ALWAYS have a solution for the medicines I could take!! What little strength I had came from Tori. She should be a superhero like “Miss Tori, the Great, and her magic bag of medications!!” I was so scared when I couldn’t breathe right. I honestly thought I was going to die or, because of my weakness, I would get pneumonia and die. I was telling my family how much I loved them, and I would see them again!! And she made me realize that I have family right here!! That eased my pain, too!! What a beautiful soul in Tori. I love the way she just took over everything, so I didn’t have to deal with what medicine to take or know what they would do for me. She tells me in her gentle voice and her firm, all-knowing confidence, which I love her for, what will help me and what won’t. When she talks, you want to know everything she’s thinking! I thank God for Tori. She makes me better!!
Thank you, Victoria, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
