I can personally attest to the dedication, kindness, and compassion Victoria brings to every patient at every encounter.
Victoria is just a very dedicated nurse; I have told many patients that if I had to have a nurse, I would have her be mine through and through. She makes sure the patient is well taken care of, even when she has a rough assignment. She does an amazing job.

As a nurse, handling death is one of the most challenging obstacles. When a patient you’ve cared for many times before is now vulnerable, non-verbal, and extremely fragile, navigating their care can be difficult. Especially as they’re surrounded by their terrified loved ones.

At this point, any great nurse would recognize it’s not just the patient he or she is caring for, it’s the patient and their family. Comfort care is so much more than popping your head into a room, saying “You good?” pushing medications, and moving along to the next. SVMC should be proud of all the staff who make the little hospital on the hill the magical place that it is. Although we would like to thank all the nurses who had a hand in contributing to his care (many named) …I a praising  Victoria for not only the care she provided to patient, T, in his final days, but for every patient she’s served.

As a former recipient of this distinguished award, knowing that you’ve made a difference in someone’s life is such an honor. Victoria made a difference in T’s life and the care she provided to him impacted the lives of his entire family, knowing he was at peace when he passed. She is an asset to SVMC.

As a former coworker of hers, I can personally attest to the dedication, kindness, and compassion she brings to every patient at every encounter. She is selfless, never thinking twice about putting her patient’s needs above her own. She is thorough with her assessments and knowing T was surrounded by a family of nurses, she took the time to check in frequently, not only with T but with all of us as well. She listened without hesitation to every question, concern, or suggestion and advocated for T in the same manner any of his family would have. With her assistance, T passed comfortably, peacefully, with dignity, and surrounded by his loving family. She offered her personal condolences to all of us and wouldn’t let us leave the unit without first offering us one more piece of comfort, a much-needed hug. She’s one of the good ones. The world not only needs more nurses like her but also more people like her.

On behalf of the family of T, who came to know SVMC as a second home in his final few months of declining health, from the bottom of our hearts thank you for the care, compassion, and kindness you’ve shown him and all of us. God bless.
