Victoria displayed several qualities that support our core values at Mercy. She was caring for a patient that was seemingly stable through the most of the day, but toward the end of the shift, he began to show signs of distress. She was quick to assess him and call the doctor on his behalf because he said he was having pains that were new for him and was acting out of the ordinary. She did not ignore his symptoms and advocated for her patient. She stayed at his bedside to comfort him and monitor him. At shift change the patient was transferred due to his status changes and high MUSE scores. Victoria never left the patient's side and stayed with him through all of this for 2+ hours after her shift was supposed to be over.

Victoria is truly dedicated to her patients and wanted to ensure that the patient was stable and well cared for even after his care had been transferred to another nurse. She truly cares about her patients and advocates for them. Her quick response and concern for her patient may have truly saved his life and she is truly deserving of a DAISY award.
