August 2023 Honoree
Victoria Hollis, RN
My uncle was transferred to MICU and he was basically unconscious the whole day and night. He was very critical and we actually did not know if he would pull through. My dad and sister were with him the whole day as I called my dad to inform him he needed to come. (I am a nurse here at East, and I was working and checking in on them throughout the day.) Victoria has the absolute sweetest and most patient soul. She explained everything to my dad and sister. She was in the room constantly. She would be humming while she worked. My dad told her that was a pretty tune. She said she loved to sing and was always singing. She sang to my sister and dad and my uncle. It made them all feel so loved and cared for. Being a nurse is more about just the skills and knowledge. It’s about compassion and caring and using the talents that God gave you to help and encourage patients and families in some of their darkest times. Victoria definitely was a ray of sunshine and just made this whole experience so much more bearable. She is a very smart and talented nurse and I’m so thankful for her care for my family and to have her as teammate at East!!
Thank you, Victoria, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
