July 2026 Honoree
Victoria Moore, RN
I gave birth at the birthing center with the support of the most amazing labor and delivery team, highlighted by my nurse, Victoria.
When I arrived, I was 7 cm dilated, exhausted, overwhelmed, and scared. I wanted to give birth unmedicated in the birthing center, but as labor progressed, that choice became increasingly difficult. Immediately upon my arrival, Victoria checked in with me, my husband, and my doula to understand my wishes and needs while ensuring I felt comfortable and safe. It was clear she truly listened and was committed to creating an environment where all of us felt supported.
As my labor continued, I became discouraged and questioned whether I could keep going. Victoria met me wherever I was—on the floor, in the tub, wherever I needed to be. She made eye contact with me, encouraged me, and helped me find the strength to keep going when I thought I couldn't.
She also supported my husband throughout the experience, making sure he had the information, supplies, and reassurance he needed to care for and encourage me. When I began to stall while pushing and the baby's heart rate required closer monitoring, Victoria quite literally bent over backward to monitor the baby while I moved through a variety of birthing positions. Throughout it all, she remained calm, never caused unnecessary worry, and continued to encourage me every step of the way.
Victoria communicated seamlessly with every member of my care team and provided clear, compassionate education and guidance throughout the entire process. Looking back on my labor journey still brings tears to my eyes. Bringing my baby into the world is something I will never forget, and it was made possible by Victoria, who guided, educated, encouraged, and helped me accomplish the hardest thing I have ever done.
Victoria was truly made for this profession, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had her by my side during my birth experience. I will always cherish those memories and remain grateful for the exceptional care she provided.
Victoria, if you ever have the chance to read this, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Even though we only knew you for a short time, you will always hold a special place in our family's story. You saw me, understood me, and guided me better than I could have guided myself. I will always look back on that experience with love and gratitude for everything you did for our family.
