I would like to take a moment to recognize an exceptional ICU nurse who cared for my mother during her stay in the ICU. Her name is Victoria R., and I truly cannot express how extraordinary she is.

As we all know, having a loved one in the ICU can be incredibly overwhelming, especially when difficult decisions need to be made. During this time, Victoria not only provided outstanding care to my mother, but she also supported me in a way I will never forget.

There was a moment when everything became very overwhelming for me, and as my family was leaving, I stayed behind and spoke with Victoria. It wasn’t even about my mom at that point — I just needed someone to talk to. I became very emotional and completely broke down. Victoria showed me such genuine compassion. She listened, she comforted me, and she treated me with so much care and humanity. I didn’t feel like just another patient’s family member — I felt truly seen and supported.

I left that conversation feeling so much better. She consistently took the time to explain things clearly, checked in on me to make sure I was okay, and went far beyond what I would ever expect.

When my mom was transferred out of the ICU, Victoria personally came to get me from the waiting room, spoke with me, and even gave me a hug. That moment meant everything to me.

We need more nurses like Victoria. The level of care, compassion, and dedication she showed was truly phenomenal. I sincerely hope this recognition reaches as far as it possibly can, because she deserves to be formally recognized for the impact she has on patients and families.

I also wanted to share that my mother has successfully completed her rehabilitation and is now back home doing very well, and I truly believe the care she received in the ICU played a major role in that outcome.
