I had never stayed in a hospital before and was diagnosed with heart failure. It was so traumatic. Many of the nurses were good but stern. On day four of my scary time, I met Victoria. She was very qualified to do the same job the other nurses did, but with a gentle smile and kindness. It was a unique case where I could walk, and the IV I was on was mobile. I told Victoria I wanted to walk and would love to feel the fresh air. She took me for a walk in the hall and arranged for the patio area to be opened so I could sit on the patio. She let me stay for a nice period of time, and it just changed everything. She did it the next day too, and it was a lovely experience.
After day one, I asked my husband to bring me makeup and hair tools from home, and I made myself look better, and I was feeling better. I was told I would have a heart procedure (simple, most likely on Friday) when the surgeon called it. My husband and I lived an hour away, and he had already visited for the day. My husband had the same illness, so he had to be careful too. Victoria came in and got me - took me for a walk and out to the patio. I didn't understand some terms, and she explained them without giving me her opinion, but I had a better understanding of what he was telling me. She again spent just enough time to calm me down and allow me to wait for the next morning when the surgeon came in to tell me I didn't need the surgery. I also want to say she has such a wonderful personality. I do not feel it is my place to share it, but she is my angel.

Thank you, Victoria, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
