Her compassion and knowledge made the most traumatic day of my and my husband's life bearable.
When I went into preterm labor at 21 weeks, Victoria Towne was my nurse once I got into an LD room. She and her coworkers made sure to get my son’s heartbeat for a heartbeat bear while it was beating. Victoria walked me through the whole process of getting induced since I had to reduce the risk of infection. She checked on me and my family religiously, as well as made sure I was repositioning to reduce the risk of long-term issues since I’m paralyzed. Once my water broke, she was quick to get the doctor in to check me, and she and her team coached me through my first-ever delivery. Afterward, she and her team kept me calm as I was bleeding out because my placenta wouldn’t deliver itself. She advocated for me to be put under for the D&C I needed after I told her of my past surgical traumas. She went downstairs and stayed with me throughout my surgery and recovery. She explained everything that would happen to me and allowed me to make informed decisions for my care. She also asked before my water broke if I wanted to hold my son once he was born, and even though I was petrified, she told me it was okay either way and reminded the doctor once he was out that I wanted to see him and quickly got him into my arms. Her compassion and knowledge made the most traumatic day of my and my husband's life bearable.
