Super Nurse/Charge! Vince is the best charge nurse ever and this appreciation is long overdue. I have a couple of awesome stories where he has come through for me patient-care-wise. I will share the latest.
He had a patient who was super impulsive and every second she got up saying “bathroom”. The best part is that she was having loose stools so it starts in the bed making a trail to either commode or bathroom. This was not my patient, so I went in to check on her after the bed alarm went off. Vince was the charge that night and he beat me to it. This patient was not directable either, making it a challenge to clean her. Vince helped me clean her, change the bed and safely put her back to bed. Instead of just leaving he grabs a whole bunch of bleach and starts cleaning the BM on the floor, the commode, even the walker. By the time I’m done getting the patient comfortable (covering and repositioning her) here comes Vince with a floor mop and mops the whole place. I have worked with colleagues who would help, but I feel Vince goes above and beyond. Being the charge nurse never stands in the way of help whenever you request him. I feel like he is the most polite person, amazing and helpful and for that he deserves a “thumbs up”.
