Vince and I were taking care of a depressed young man who was suicidal and very tearful. The patient was very uncomfortable talking about what was going on. Vince sat down with the patient and they made a great connection talking about music as the patient was a guitarist. Vince happened to have a ukulele with him from a group he is involved with and took it to the patient and they took turns playing it and talking about it. It is amazing to see nurses honestly take the time to make a human connection with a patient and really go above and beyond to lend a listening ear and find a truly unique and fun way to do so.
