He saved my Dad, and I will be forever grateful for his calm and collected quick thinking in the face of chaos.
My dad had open heart surgery at the Kimmel Pavilion last week. We were visiting him the day after surgery, and while he was talking to us, his eyes rolled back in his head, and he flatlined.
A code was called, and everyone rushed in.
My mother and I were traumatized and very scared. We had just watched him die. Also because of the open-heart surgery within 24 hours, we weren’t sure how/if they would be able to resuscitate him.
Vincent ran in with everyone else during the code and gently pumped on the right side of my father’s chest so as not to disturb the sternotomy and brought him back with his hands.
He then stayed as his primary nurse all day to take care of him.
