Violeta Gallano quickly responded to a call to assess one of the residents in class, she assessed him thoroughly and realized that he was having a serious medical event. Violeta immediately took home back to the unit and initiated sending him to the ER for medical evaluation. Violeta’s quick actions that day expedited his care and provided him the access to the treatment he needed. Since I am a new nurse, I want to point out the people who helped me in transitioning into my new role. Though I do not work on the same shift as Violeta. She has always been helpful and given me tips to improve as a new nurse. From making sure I know my clinical skills set to stocking and prepping the unit for report. She has helped me grow in my role. Every time I know that I am getting a report from Violeta I know I will have all the information, everything will be stocked and ready at bedside and on the cart and I will be prepared for my shift. She has taught me that working as a team during a report will make the entire day better for the children and the nurses. I wanted to take time to point out what a team player she is and what I have learned from her.
