May 2020 Honoree
vipha delacruz, RN
I was brought in by police to the ER on a 5150 hold. I was dirty and had not had a shower. I felt like a non-US citizen and was treated like an animal and felt like a prisoner of war. No one understood me. The police brought me in because I was under stress and acting crazy. I just wanted to talk to someone. Vipha let me take a shower, and shaved me in my room, and brought me extra food. She told me that I was not crazy and made me feel better before being transferred. I was able to be released 5 days later thanks to Vipha and my brother-in-law. Vipha helped me a lot and I did not go crazy in the ER. The whole ordeal was horrible, but thanks to Vipha, I got through it.
Thank you, Vipha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
